Captain Cups Last Big Smoke
It is reported that on July 1st 2008 the last bastion of smoking
culture will be forced to abide by the idiotic rules of the
Smoking Police. That’s right folken, smoking culture will
cease to exist as we know it. Under the European Anti-Smoking
Laws the last refuge of smoking culture, the coffee shops of
Amsterdam, will be forced to conform like the U.K. already has
to the Anti-Smoking Laws.
It means that you will not be allowed to smoke inside a coffee
shop, unless they have a totally sealed separate smoking room
away from coffee shop staff. So no more pleasantly chatting
at the bar to the staff while you enjoy a nice joint, a coffee,
and a gentle breeze of fresh air blowing in through the partly
open door or window. The pleasure of smoking a joint with a
beer has already been taken from us.
Who are these people who force and impose their will onto a
minority culture with different values ?
I think we should send them a message. We are smokers, and
we are adults, and we want to smoke what we wish in a sociable
environment with a beer if it pleases us. We wish to be treated
like the adults we are and we therefore require and demand provision
of such facilities within the societies we pay our compulsory
taxes towards. To do less for us is to simply alienate us and
discriminate us out and away from wider society and so create
a new criminal underclass. Who will be next, folken with red
hair ?
So here’s the deal, alone or in company Captain Cups
will be hitting Amsterdam at the end of June 2008 for a Last
Big Smoke. If you and your friends would like to arrange to
be in town at the same time I’ll be happy to join you
in a smoke of your choice. If you have any fun ideas of what
we might do while there I’m more than happy to hear them.
The rest is up to you. Write yourself into little piece of
history, if you dare.
